Our new staff hero Ryan Kayson brought us up to his old home town for a nice six-projector mapping project. The palette was the new Storke Tower at UCSB. We got some gorgeous imagery from some very funky angles. Mr. Awesome himself, Sean Cagney was on board to make all funky angles feel just right.... Client thrilled, the HD-20s were working hard, and we have another successful mapping job under our belts. Each gig is more fun than the one before it.
Our supreme systems sales overlord/hero Mitch Payton scores a nice award for his work with FCC Church in LA. ShowPro did this installation with Matt Levesque's design. Mitch is just the most conscientious and dedicated sales guy you will ever meet. He won't leave your job until you tell him you love him and you insist on buying him dinner. We are lucky to have Mitch on our team. And the First Congregational Church is not only the oldest church in LA, but it also houses the world's largest pipe organ. We won this award for the LED lighting upgrade we did, with honors coming from nothing less than the LA Conservancy themselves. High praise from a higher power!

Not sure who enjoys this one more - the crew or the kids. Well i guess some of the crew are kids, huh? Another successful year with MTV and KCA. Jane and Joe were lovely as always, and we really have this one down. Always a pleasure to work with the same team year after year. Matt Levesque outdid himself with the lighting design - how cool are those Versatubes on the vertical circle truss? Prettier than Katy Perry's blue hair.
This is why I love working in this business! We're working on the Grammy afterparty at the convention center (6000 guests, ACM and ACD and our beloved NARAS clients). Sir Paul is being honored as Person of the Year. I grab my boy Charlie to see a rehearsal with his hero since age 6, Paul McCartney. We get our minds blown with Paul jamming "The End" with Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen and Joe Walsh, etc. 3 hours later we're in a reception honoring Sir Paul when PM himself walks by my son and says "hey I saw you at the rehearsal - do you remember? Dad, take our picture!" Well I had to oblige Sir Paul. Here's the shot (confounded iphone flash). Bliss.
Another great one with Bounce - Carleen and Rachael brought us up to Las Vegas to help build an elaborate and gorgeous temporary Chanel museum at the Wynn. We built matrixed display walls, and did some very unique projection on to atypical surfaces. Here's a shot of a projection that appears inside an oversized bottle of Chanel perfume. Lots of keystone correcting and masking to make it look almost like a hologram. Fun times always with this group...
Indy producer David Shapiro asked us up to the high desert to reinforce audio for a stunt featuring mad-man Rob Dyrdek and a Chevy Sonic. Rob does whatever it is he does to get pumped up for this insanity, then he jumps in this stock Chevy Sonic, and hits a ramp that is far from level. Check out this test video of the event. Why, you ask? Why not?
